Bench desks from the Impulse and Oslo ranges, in single row and back to back configurations, sold as starter units with extension kits that bolt on as the team grows. Benching is how most open plan offices get fitted out now, for a simple reason: positions share legs and frames, so a run of six takes less floor space, less budget and less installing than six separate rectangular desks pushed together, and the whole run stays level and aligned.
Choosing a bench desk
Every run starts with a starter unit, then extension kits add positions a pair at a time. Back to back banks seat people facing each other across a shared spine and are the most space efficient layout going: an Impulse B2B four person bank puts four people in roughly the footprint of three standalone desks. Single row benches suit walls and window runs where everyone faces the same way. Measure before you order, and leave about a metre of pull back space behind each chair.
Tops run 1200mm to 1600mm per position across the range. 1400mm suits a monitor arm and a laptop comfortably; go to 1600mm where people spread paperwork or run twin screens. Oslo banks carry a cable management tray along the spine as standard, so power and data run the length of the bank and drop to the floor at one point rather than trailing from every desk. The rest of our desks and workstations share the same finishes if you need odd shapes alongside.
Screens, storage and power
Most banks we fit go out with desktop screens between facing positions, a pedestal per person and monitor arms to clear the tops. Sort sockets and leads at order stage with proper cable management, because retrofitting power through an occupied bank is nobody's idea of a good afternoon. Teams who like to stand can mix a sit stand desk onto the end of a run.
Bench desks in Belfast and across Northern Ireland
Office Interior Solutions supply and install bench desking across Northern Ireland, from Belfast, Lisburn and Newtownabbey out to Antrim, Bangor, Newry and Derry. Delivery and installation come as part of the job rather than as extras, and we take every scrap of packaging away with us, which matters when thirty flat packed bench positions arrive on one lorry.
Bench installs live or die on the planning, so send the floor plan over before you commit. We will lay out the runs, count starter units and extension kits properly, and flag whatever the plan misses, usually columns, radiators and door swings. Ring +44 (0)2890 770019 and we will talk it through.
