Coffee and occasional tables are the piece that turns a couple of chairs into somewhere people actually sit. This is our full selection for breakout areas, receptions and waiting rooms: low coffee tables in round, square and oblong shapes, plus taller occasional pieces for corners, lamps and stacks of reading material. Everything here is chosen to stand up to office life, which is harder on furniture than any living room ever manages.
Choosing a coffee table for the office
Height first: a coffee table should land level with or a touch below the seat cushion beside it, which for most office sofas means roughly 400 to 450mm. Lower looks stylish in photographs and gets used less in practice. Then match the length to the seating: a table around two thirds the length of the sofa serves the whole seat without blocking the route past it.
In a working office, think about the base as much as the top. A central column or disc base leaves toes and vacuum cleaners room to move, while four legged tables are steadier for coffee and laptop duty. Wipeable tops earn their keep near the canteen, and anything placed in a walkway wants rounded corners rather than sharp ones. Occasional tables at lamp height, around 500 to 600mm, are the underrated extra: one beside each armchair means nobody balances a mug on the upholstery.
What goes around them
These tables live alongside our armchairs, modular seating and reception soft seating. If people will be eating rather than lounging, look at bistro and cafe tables at proper dining height instead, and the breakout and canteen hub gathers the whole lot in one place.
Coffee and occasional tables in Belfast and across Northern Ireland
Office Interior Solutions furnish breakout and reception areas across Northern Ireland, from Belfast, Newtownabbey and Lisburn up to Derry and down to Newry. Delivery and installation are part of the job rather than an extra line, and we take the packaging away with us instead of leaving you a cardboard mountain by the bins.
If you are kitting out a whole area, tell us the room size and how many people pile in at lunchtime and we will suggest a layout that works. Ring us on +44 (0)2890 770019, you get a person, not a menu.
